GAA Coach and Player Development Summer Webinar Series 2026.

This webinar "Injuries and injury prevention in Gaelic Games" is delivered by Siobhan O'Connor.

Professor Siobhán O’Connor (MSc, PhD, CAT, FFSEM (Hon.)) is a Professor in the School of Health and Human Performance at Dublin City University (DCU). As a Certified Athletic Therapist, her research agenda is deeply rooted in supporting under-served populations, with a primary focus on injury surveillance, injury prevention, and concussion within community sport and under-researched groups, particularly women. Passionate about women's health, Professor O'Connor spearheaded the development of the Graduate Certificate in Women’s Health at DCU. She possesses extensive research experience spanning community sports, (Gaelic games, horse racing, and female sports etc) as well as high-stress occupations (farming and clinicians).

This webinar will focus on understanding injuries and using practical tools to reduce injury risk in your players. This session explores common injuries across male and female players, practical prevention strategies, and the importance of adopting a holistic, athlete-centred approach, so that coaches can minimise injury risk, prevent burnout, and keep sport fun for long-term participation.
