Objectives:
1. Have knowledge and understanding of the GAA code of behaviour Underage.
2. Implement best practice in coaching children the skills of the game in a safe and enjoyable environment.
3. Have a basic knowledge of Children First (2011) and relevant legislation.
4. Know how to recognise child protection and welfare concerns by listing the categories of abuse and indicators associated with abuse.
5. Know how to respond appropriately to child protection and welfare.

The Gaelic Athletic Association is committed to creating and maintaining the safest possible environment for all young people who wish to participate in our Gaelic Games and activities.
All our coaches and volunteers are required to attend Child Safeguarding 1 if they wish to work with children. Equally, the role that parents have to play is important in ensuring we adhere to our good practice guidelines assists us in achieving this aim.
Child Safeguarding Training is highlighted in Children First as being mandatory and is required for the level of child safeguarding engagement one has in the Association.
Non members of the club must contact the Children’s Officer of the club to seek approval to attend the course and receive the enrolment key.
